2019 CASA Conference Set for Québec City QC, October 8 - 10

The 24th annual conference of the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association will be held at the Hôtel Château Laurier Québec in Québec City QC. The theme is Safe and Strong Farms: Build an AgSafe Canada.

This year’s focus is on ag safety education, research projects and solutions that have worked, are working or are being developed across the country. All sessions will be practical and experience-driven. Hop on the bus Wednesday afternoon to meet two farm families who cross all the t’s in ag safety! Stay for Thursday morning’s workshop on mental health awareness in agriculture. There will be lots of opportunity for questions and new take-home tools are guaranteed!

It’s your chance to meet other Canadian, American and international ag safety and health educators, policy directors, decision makers and program deliverers who truly care about helping farm communities thrive safely and sustainably. You’ll share, learn and discuss the latest developments and trends in the field. It’ll be worth it!

Of course, there’s lots of networking built into the conference including an optional walking tour of the ancien Québec City on Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening’s sweet celebration at a sugar shack! You may buy extra tickets for guests.

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) invites presentation submissions for the 2019 Annual Conference, October 8-10, 2019 in Quebec City at the Hôtel Château Laurier Québec.

The presentation should be relevant to farm safety and health issues. This could include research, or initiative, project or program aimed at improving the safety and health for farmers, ranchers, farm families, workers, visitors, and farming communities.

Oral Presentations are accepted in the following categories:

  • Farm Safety Initiative, Project or Program

Poster Presentations are accepted in the following categories:

CASA’s 2019 conference will be held at the Hôtel Château Laurier Québec, 1220 Place George-V Ouest, Québec City (QC) G1R 5B8.

The hotel is ideally located on Parliament Hill, nestled between the Plains of Abraham and lively Grande-Allée Street. Hôtel Château Laurier Québec is a ten minute walk from the historic district of Old Québec, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1985 and the cradle of French civilization in North America.

On that walk, you’ll pass through fortifications built in the 17th century on your way to Québec City’s landmarks, restaurants and shops.

The Château has set aside a block of rooms for CASA conference participants at a rate of $199.00 plus taxes per night. Book no later than Friday, September 6 to be guaranteed a room at the conference rate. The special conference rate will be available three days prior to and after the conference, if there’s space. If you need to cancel your reservation, notify the hotel before 4:00pm on your arrival date and you will not be charged for the room.

Check-in is 4:00pm on the day of arrival. Check-out is no later than noon on the day of departure.

Château guests have unlimited in and out parking privileges. The rate is $20.00 for overnight until 1:00pm each day until departure. If a meeting runs until 5:00pm on the departure day, there will be no extra charge.

CASA has booked The Business Suite as a Hospitality Room Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The room is a large loft style with a panoramic view of the St. Lawrence and the Plains of Abraham.

There is free WiFi in every guest and meeting room. There’s room service, a restaurant, a fitness centre, spa and a pool.

Getting there!

The Hôtel Château Laurier Québec is a 35-minute drive from the Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB).

There is no shuttle to or from the hotel but public transport and taxi services are available.

Public Transportation

Bus route No. 78 offered by Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) serves the Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport in the early morning from the terminus Les Saules and in late afternoon to the terminus Les Saules, Monday through Friday.
